The Cincinnati Bengals are off to n 0-2 start and they haven't scored a touchdown in eight quarters. Both games were at home none the less. Andy Dalton has only completed 36-for-66 of his passes this season and he has only thrown for 394 yards and 4 interceptions.
They are horrific numbers and I think it is time to bench Dalton and switch to A.J. McCarron. Marvin Lewis's contract is up at the end of the season and they shouldn't bring him back. That being said, what will happen to Dalton?
He only has a year left of his allocated signing bonus money. This would make the cap hit associated with unloading $2.3 million in 2018. Keeping him would cost $13.9 million in cash. Keep an eye on that.
The Bengals have fired offensive coordinator Ken Zampese, but he shouldn't have been fired. Marvin Lewis should have just put Dalton on the bench and that's it. Quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor will take over as the offensive coordinator. They will play against the Green Bay Packers next week.
